Spring Internships Available

Learn something! Do something! Have some fun! And get some credit for it!

We are currently interviewing college students for Spring semester internships at Himmelrich PR. We like hard-working, self-motivated and energetic students majoring in public relations, advertising, communications, or marketing. Our interns like being here because they get practical experience that looks good on a resume, a portfolio of work that was actually used, and exposure to all aspects of the public relations and marketing process.

Students interested in an unpaid internship for the Spring can send a resume to our internship coordinator, Mike Fila, at mike@himmelrich.com.

A Spaid Joins the Club

We “heart” working with creative, innovative clients, so we are especially excited to welcome Sue Spaid to the club. Sue will join the Contemporary Museum on December 13 as its new Executive Director. Tim Smith at the Baltimore Sun reported this morning what we discovered when we met Sue last week – her incredible energy and abundant ideas will help us bring more visibility to this great cultural resource.

A Weekend in the Wood(s)

How much wood would a reporter report if a reporter would report on wood?

We saw* just how much this weekend, when the Woodworking and D.I.Y Show in Sacramento, California hosted Bethany Crouch from KTXL Fox40 and Ashley Johnson from Good Day Sacramento on CBS13/CW31. Bethany and Ashley were not shy* as they donned aprons* and their earliest-morning cheer (before sunrise, but we’re knot* complaining) to join* the show’s experts in learning about stains, wood turning and inlay.  See Bethany’s stories on her blog.

It was sanding-room only as visitors were elbow* to elbow when the show opened on Friday, and the show producers saw* good crowds through the weekend.

In addition to the TV spots and filler*, and awl* the print visibility, D.I.Y bloggers showed their grit* and were set* with bits* of posts. Check* out the review from Sacramento Press.

That makes us proud*. Go figure*.

* If the sound* of the wood terms strikes a cord*

Back to School…

We like our clients to be in the spotlight, but twice in the past week, the spotlight has been on us. Todd Scott and I both shared our insights about public relations with some interested students.

Todd participated in Career Day at a local high school.

At the Maryland Institute College of Art, I met with students from the school’s Exhibition Development Seminar class. Over the course of a year, the students curate their own exhibition, from concept to installation, and also promote it. Using real world experiences from Himmelrich PR’s work for the Contemporary Museum, I explained the process for promoting an exhibition – online and traditional media, long and short leads, media previews to opening night.

We were happy to share our good work and good thinking with a new generation of budding PR professionals.
